Inclusive, supportive mountain walking to promote positivity and health...

Whats the idea?

These events are open to individuals who wish to spend a day with like-minded folk in a supportive and positive environment.  We will explore an amazing upland area of the country, all the while chatting, connecting, and learning.

A Wellbeing Walk is a perfect way to help combat loneliness and stress, and if you're unfamiliar with the mountain environment, it's an ideal way to step out of your comfort zone, and into the wide open world of hillwalking, all under our expert guidance.

The NHS identifies 5 key factors to mental wellbeing, these walks tick all those boxes - and then some!  So why not take a day out of life to try something new?  It could be the start of something amazing. â€‹

The 5 keys to Wellbeing

  1. Connect with other people;  A group walk is such an easy way to meet people.  The pace of a hill walk is also perfect for chatting with others in the group as we wander along and take in the views.

  2. Be physically active; Well, that's an easy one - We'll be tackling a challenging route in the rugged and wild mountains.

  3. Learn new skills; We'll all be learning from eachother's life experiences, and as a Mountain Leader I will happily pass on a few map and compass tips, discuss the flora and fauna of the area or bring alive the geology through which we'll be travelling.

  4. Be in the moment;  The mountains can be meditative, focusing the mind (and legs) entirely on the process of walking, this is a great way of escaping the stresses of life for a while.

  5. Give to others;  This is a free event.  When booking, a non-refundable donation will be made to a charity local to the area in which we are walking.  This will mean our group will give something back to the communities we have visited.  Win win!

Fitness and equipment

These walks are all designed to be inclusive and are 'introductory level', so no previous mountain walking experience is necessary.  A base level of fitness is required though, as the walks will last for approximately 6 hours, involving ascent and descent on often uneven paths.  We will move slowly and steadily with plenty of rest stops. No-one will get left behind!

Walking boots or trail shoes with good grip are required (trainers not suitable), as are warm clothes, waterproofs, hats and gloves. Equipment can be borrowed in some cases, so please get in touch if in any doubt.

You will need to bring your own food and a drink for the day.  A packed lunch and extra snacks is advisable.

When a booking is made you will receive a kit list and a form to fill out to help us understand your fitness and experience, plus any other specific needs.

Locations and dates

Full details of the walk will remain flexible until nearer the time, this is to give us the option to taylor the walk to suit the group and the weather on the day.  Therefore actual meeting points will be communicated later.

Details of the chosen charity will also be released nearer the time.
